One advantage of qualitative research would be that it gives you a detailed response to the questions you ask. This would be an advantage because it gives you a persons full developed opinion in detail rather than just yes or no. This is important when researching a short film because you would want to know the details of what a person thinks to erase the mistakes that happen when creating your short film. Also you would want to know exactly how the viewer feels due to then having the ability to see what the viewers like and then adapt a short film to that, as a result it would most likely increase in the number of likes. Finally, qualitative research gives the researcher a clearer picture of what the target market wants.
A disadvantage of qualitative research would be that be that sometimes the questions asked may be biased, the researcher could asked bias questions which would lead to a detailed biased answer. This would be a factor that you should consider when researching a short film due to possibly asking biased questions which would lead to biased answers therefore adapting you short film to suit you rather than the target market. Another disadvantage would be that the data is hard to demonstrate or assess, due to each answer being a detailed opinion, it would be hard to present the data due to their being so much information in each response. Also another disadvantage would be that is much more time consuming, it would take a while to under-go this type of research due to giving the poeple time to think and write about their views.
